Pictures!

Here's the Boring Beige socks for Hubby. I'm knitting down the heel flap. I really do love knitting them on two circular Addi turbos. One is 16" long (that's my heel needle) the other is 23" long.

A little sample of the 50th Anniversary party favors. They look better in person :-)

Anniversary Favors, DONE!

Ok, I finished the anniversary favors in between caring for Sick Kitty. He's doing as best as can be expected. He and I had a rough night. After his feeding, he bazooka barfed up all the food that we had given him that day. I called the vet, who gave him meds to spark up his upper-GI. Of course, I was sans a car at the time and had to beg a ride off of Support Goddess.

She drove us over, I pilled Fatso, and this time our feeding took place in the bathroom. I was done cleaning kitty barf off carpets for one night. Linoleum=good.

Unfortunately, the poor bugger had to pee. I just thought he was trying to escape the feeding syringe. (eyeroll). He peed in the bathtub, bless his fuzzy heart. We gave him a break after all that and waited til this morning to feed him again.

The good news is that he's holding it down (for now). Poor guy.

Somehow, I managed to pull a muscle in my chest. OUCH. Laughing, coughing, sneezing and deep breaths kill right now! Guess we won't be watching the rest of the "Chris Rock" special our pal Chase taped for us tonight.

Everyone have a good weekend.

Kitty Update

Ok, Fatso got another trip to the vet yesterday. We should be getting frequent flier miles at this rate. I'm thinking of changing his nickname to "Platinum". Poor guy hadn't eaten in a week by the time we took him in again.

They took X-rays and did some blood work. The answer is, "we don't know what that thing in his lung is". Great. Our vet has been wonderful through all this. We are now syringe feeding him squishy food to get nutrients into him. He actually is taking it better than expected, but then again, is so weak he doesn't have much fight left.

The Next Step is to look into a bronchial inhaler like people use, but adapted for kitties. If that doesn't work, we're going to keep him comfortable until we can't anymore.

Knitting news: You'd think with all this stress I'd get lots and lots of knitting done, alas, no. I have only knitted a bit more on the heel of Hubby's BB socks.

50th Wedding Anniversary favor update: Since I had the time at home yesterday, I tagged and started bagging the anniversary favors. They look great. I'm glad she/we chose the printed baggies. I'll try and post pictures later. My goal is to finish these before the weekend. Then I'm going to disappear for the weekend. As a friend says, "I'm going to Atlanta."

Monday, Monday

Starting from the top:

  1. Fatso still sick. Not eating. Going to check on him at lunchtime

  2. Knitted some on the BB socks for Hubby. I'm working the heel flap. Sorry no picture yet

  3. Anniversary favors almost done. I have to run wording by the customer and see which version she wants. Then bag & tag :-)

On a brighter note, was watching The Colonial House last night and giggling at the stupids that they picked. It's amazing how these folks conviently pick and choose which 1620 conventions they wish to live by. Apparently last week's "put up and shut up" woman was this week's whiner about observing the Sabbath. I'm not voting here about religion, but if you sign up to live by 1620 rules, that includes mandated religion! Wakey Wakey Stupids. Ah, carnage.

Movie/Weekend Review

Saw "Troy" this weekend, which I thought was great except for Malibu Achilles, as the Fabu Chase dubbed Brad Pitt. He tried really really hard to act, but couldn't. The supporting cast and cinematography made up for his lack.

Kitty update

Poor Fatso is still under the weather. He hasn't been eating. He's again on meds for aneorexia (funny for an 18 pound cat) to encourage his appetite. He's still on a ton of meds and was throwing up. Poor guy's miserable.

Knitting update Haven't knitted squat. Been too busy with anniversary party favors and kitty stuff.

Found on Cafe Press

Ok, this just made me giggle.

Naked Co-ed Quidditch t-shirt

I've got no affiliation with the sell or Cafe Press. Hopefully, though CP has changed some of its Draconian copyright ownership rights since I last wrote about them (ages ago, I'm not looking up the link and you shouldn't bother either).

Grandpa Kitty

Fatso is back from the vet and after trying out all his favorite sleeping places for 5 minutes each trying to get comfortable, he's settling in at home.

Poor Grandpa Kitty, he's on so many meds for this latest round that I think I need a color-coded chart to keep track! AND the vet forgot to treat him for the tapeworm.

Of course, technically, he'll never be a grandparent since we had him snipped shortly after adoption from the Humane Society.

Didn't knit squat yesterday. Did however work on the 50th Anniversary Party Soap Favors for Sandy at work. Unmolded 20, wrapped them, and poured 20 more hearts. Last time I did an order of "party favors" like these, I learned that making the soap is the quick part, packaging them take more time.

Only 60 more hearts to go!

Kitty Report

Took Fatso to the vet yesterday for emergency look-see at what was going on with his little kitty self. Hubby was vaccumming and tidying up the house when he noticed Fatty bunched up and wandering around the house in obvious pain.

Apparently the poor bugger somehow got tapeworm and constipation/intestinal blockage. :(

He got an overnight stay at the vet's office (where they all love him) and we'll find out more today. Poor guy.

Watched the end of "Angel" with our pal, the Fabu Chase. All were happy with the "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid" kind of ending.

Found in the clip art 'phonebook'

While designing a thingy about infuriating spam mail for work, I ran across these guys and am hoping they make the final cut.

Roadside Jam, Pork Rinds & Quilts

Went up to visit Hubby's second-eldest brother this past weekend. He lives in the hills of north Ga. Rolling green hills, ribbons of asphalt, and red clay.

We stopped at a roadside turnout and bought fresh pork rinds (for hubby & father in law) and a small jar of homemade strawberry jam.

On Saturday, the town near where he lives had its annual Wildflower Art show in the city square. Hubby and I saw lots of things to spend our dough on.

Sunday, we headed home again.

The whole weekend, I worked on the Boring Beige socks for Hubby. I've got 7.5 inches of K2, P2 ribbing done. Whew.

No, No, No, La La La La

Ok, that's it, I'm going into turtle mode.

I'm pulling into my shell and will be back next week.

Yesterday was *just* awful. Our poor little Civic has been spewing engine oil everywhere under the hood for approximately 4 days because one of us forgot to replace the oil refill cap. Messy and dangerous and messy and possibly car-engine-roasting. Did I mention messy?

Luckily, we noticed it yesterday and drove to the nearest auto store. Unfortunatley, AutoZone's computers had been hit by some virus, Sasser I suspect, and couldn't process creditcards, checks, or refunds. And there are Hubby & I with not enough cash to buy 3 quarts of oil and a new cap. I didn't want to drive the poor metal beast any further. I called SupportGoddess and asked if she could bring cash. She came by the store, hugged us, threw a twenty at us, and left on her white steed.

Today, I called the best mechanic of all time and he was alarmed that we were driving this beasty around with "all that oil on the manifold". I'm guessing from his reaction that it's flammable.

Hubby is getting an oil change and engine cleaning by Mr. Mechanic RIGHT NOW. Whew.

Then a broken cat food bowl, a sick friend, la la la la... poor everyone.

Knitting news: Worked on BB socks some more. About 1 inch of K2 P2 ribbing done.

Piccies!

Zebra socks just need their ends woven in.

I've already started on the Boring Beige socks for Hubby. That's two whole rows of K1, P1 that hasn't been joined to knit in the round yet.

Made soap last night too. Flavor: Cool Citrus Basil, a dupe of the Bath & Bodyworks fragrance. I attempted a swirl of blue. Other soapies on the rack: Cocoa Caress, Creamy Almond, and Silky Kiwi.

Camping in WalMart

Now I've heard everything. This morning while listening to Bob & Sheri, a singer was talking about what it's like to tour America and play little gigs here and there. Apparently though, there's a large number of folks who camp in their RVs in the WalMart parking lots across America. AND WallyWorld doesn't discourage this behavior because the RV folks come in and spend $$$.

Go figure.

Knitting news: I'm closing in on the toe of Zebra sock #2. I had Hubby try it on to see if I can use the same pattern for his Boring Beige socks. He's got very svelte calves so it fit him just fine. :-)

Craft Night!

We stamped, sewed, colored our way through the hours and at the end of the evening, SueM made mini chocolate souffles. How could I say no?

I made up a stack of notecards using the scooter girl from the "Paris in Spring" set from Stampin' Up! They look cute, but there's definitly a difference from the first 3 I colored and the last 6 after I picked out a better color palette.

Then I just got irriated with stamping and switched back to work on Zebra sock #2. I'm almost done w/ the foot portion. Whoo hoo.

Dejunking!

theme song of Clean Sweep playing

I've gone through two different piles of crapola in the past two days. Dejunked cassettes (old, older, & ancient), including some music that I wonder what I was thinking when I bought it.

Last night, it was "get rid of old software that won't run on my current computer" day. Software, not operating systems, just old software. I gave about 125 floppy disks to my boss. His eyes lit up like it was Christmas. That certainly makes it easier for me to get rid of stuff when I know it's not just Dumpster Fodder.

Total # of Pounds of Crapola removed in 2 days: 50 (estimated).

Tonight is a soap night. I'm making two classics: Creamy Almond and Cocoa Caress.

Knitting news: Finished reducing the gussett on the second Zebra sock. Am knitting down to the toe. May *really* finish this week.
