Go over there, for now

In an attempt to simplify my life, I'm going to be blogging only over at my LiveJournal site: http://www.livejournal.com/users/lilfish/

Blatt

I'm looking for a photo of a pig. A real pig, not a piggy bank, not a toy pig, not clip art (which I have plenty of). Oh yeah, and it has to be cheap.

I found some adorable ones at Dynamic Graphics, but they're really expensive for work's budget.

Otherwise, I shipped the Hubby off last night. He's coming back tomorrow. Then I was soul-suckingly tired. No knitting, no sewing, no nuthin!

Tonight SpiceGirl's coming over. We may sew or stamp, I'm not sure which she wants to do. I'm leaning toward sewing just because I want to use up more fabric.

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

You would NOT believe what came in the mail yesterday! No, not the Birkenstocks that are being shipped via donkey from Germany.

The Fabu Chase sent us prezzies that she picked up in New Zealand! I asked for yarn and boy, howdy, did I get yarn. Beautiful yarn. ooooooh. I promise to photograph it and show it off. She gave me 6 skeins of gorgeous stuff. I have *no* idea what I'm going to make with it, but that's never been the point, right?!

She sent Hubby a beautiful wooden box with an "elvish-looking" pendant inside. Pretty pretty pretty. I may borrow it sometime. ;-)

Made soap last night: Lilac and Gardenia. I've never soaped the gardenia fragrance before and it set up quickly. I did manage to pour it before it became a solid brick of soap in the pot!

Whew! Weekend Whirlwind

Survived a weekend visit to La Madre's. She's a tornado of energy. It never feels like visiting so much as running a marathon.

We did, however, get some great clothes from the SUPER Goodwill. I bought a truckload of new shirts, 2 purses, and a pair of pants. Hubby only found 2 shirts. He was hoping for more Guyaberra shirts, but alas.

I've already washed one of the purses (yes, you can wash the synthetic thingys) and it's hanging to dry in the bathroom.

Also got to see Sue-the-Matchmaker and had a lovely lunch with her on Sunday at the Cheesecake Factory. Yeah, yeah, I know it's overpriced, but I *like* it.

Not a scrap of crafting done. I have to make soap TONIGHT so that I can have SpiceGirl over later this week.

Go and see my LiveJournal

Wonderful weekends all around.

We're off to see my mom. Apparently, there will be swimming involved.

Ok, I've been cheating....

I've also got another blog at LiveJournal.

What did you think I'd cheat on Hubby? Are you nuts?

Anyhoo, the LiveJournal one started out small while I figured out what I like better, Diaryland or LJ. Usually, my posts at LJ point over here. Today is "Mix It Up Thursday" so here's my LiveJournal.

Things to like about Diaryland:

  • Lets me pick out HTML without paying extra for "upgraded" membership

  • Forced me to learn more about the HTML behind blogging

  • Allowed me to find out how to add in a Commenting system. (Haloscan) This was actually tricky since when I was first searching for a Commenting system, all the freebie ones were not taking new users.

Things to like about LiveJournal:

  • The commenting system *always* works and I can reply to posts from my webmail accounts.

  • The interaction with "communities"

  • It just *works*

Tonight I'll go sewing at Christine's house. I can't wait since my table's been covered with soap for the past week. It's a fiesta o' fat!!!

Nope

Didn't do diddly last night except read "Split Second" by David Baldacci. It's a fast read and I'm more than half-way through it already.

Soap Report

Pearberry and Oatmeal Milk & Honey soap! Whoo hoo. These two always sell out quickly.

Ordered many pounds of coconut oil today.

Tonight, I'll probably play with the lip balm stuff. I've got Origin-type flavor oils that are calling.

Had lunch with the lovely WebMS yesterday. She told me about free Adobe training coming to our general area. She'll be in Seattle learning similar stuff. Here's hoping the bosses let me and two co-workers go.

I can't believe I forgot to blog the wonderful Tapas spread that Hubby made on Friday night for "date-night". My favorite was the feta-cheese stuffed dates wrapped in proscuitto. mmmmmmm!

Ah, Weekend

The sewing machines got tucked into their beds this weekend. The soaping oils have taken over the dining room table again.

I measured up for 4 three-pound batches of soap. I need to make more OatmealMilk&Honey, Patchouli, and Pearberry. Those ones always sell very well.

Also spent quality time filling little 2 oz bottles with scented bath gels which will become part of either Lavender Pamper Kits or the little pamper kits. This time, it's Lavender all the way. And Pearberry for those who hate Lavender, which is actually very few folks.

Tonight after work & stuff, I'll whip out two of the four batches. Can you believe I need to reorder Coconut oil!? I can't. I always assume those 5 gallon pails will last me forever.

Spoke to SueS this weekend. It was good to touch base with her and we're actually going to see her this weekend!

Sewing Night and a Reversal

I am woman, watch me change my mind

After discussing my distress about the Snail's Trails blocks with CSR, she told me the rest of the quilt is MUCH easier. AND because it must have been my lucky day, she generously gave me enough other ST blocks to complete that center part!

Last night, I cut up 5.25 squares for the next phase of the quilt. Tonight the sewing equipment at my house gets tucked into bed for the next several weeks as we prepare for our upcoming craft show.

Besides, Hubby really wants to see the top of that gorgeous table we recently got from Chase when she moved out of town. It's been covered in sewing gear almost from the moment we got it. Sorry, honey!!

Tonight, we're watching the rest of "Khan" and having tapas dinner at home.

This weekend, I'll probably make soap and continue decluttering my stuff. Today, Hubby is dropping off 2 very full kitchen-garbage sacks of clothes to the local women's shelter. The Goodwill up here is so swamped with donations, that we try to spread around our givings to the other smaller places.

Three Cheers for Leeeesa Chicken

Outside of an impulse trip to BestBuy to finally get the "Wrath of Khan" DVD we've both been lusting over, the most exciting event was that our friend LisaChicken has sold her Orlando property.

It was an albatross around her neck. Poor dear, I don't know how she made 3 house payments and a car payment and still fed herself! Anyway, that horribleness is over now. Woo Hooo!

Big storms last night and our impromptu trip to Las Margaritas for dinner kept me from anything craft-related.

Tonight is a sewing night at CSR's house.

Mid-Year Ramblings

It's mid-year and here we go:

  • I have not started on my Christmas cards yet

  • I do have a craft show in a little more than 2 months and am not ready for that

  • We are still living in the same crappy apartment and buying a place still doesn't make sense for our lives now.

  • I currently own more fabric than ever.

  • Last night I shoveled leaves with a snowshovel. It beats the white stuff.

That is all. Return to your regularly scheduled life.

Stretch, One, Two, Three

It's a Monday on a Tuesday here. We had yesterday off as the "official" 4th of July. We just puttered around the house a bit.

I sewed up a tote bag for Support Goddess to use on her upcoming Eurpoean Junket. It should fit her Birkies or her Singing Shoes. Either way, I got to use up fabric that was once a part of Hubby's Vorlon costume several Guavaweens ago. It's nice upholstery fabric, but I think I almost killed my serger with it. I was trying to "zap" the ends of the straps so that they wouldn't unravel. Well, the serger made an awful noise and started misbehaving.

After a few frustrating moments, I called Hubby over to help. Between the two of us, I think we fixed it. Tonight I'll rethread it and see.

Knitting: Had Hubby try on the BBHubby sock and it fits really well. I think after about 2 more rows, it's time to attach purple yarn (wheee!) and start the toe decreases.

GNOME Fabric

Isn't this the cutest? ReproDepot has Gnome-print fabric!!!

Sewing news: I skipped out of scrapping night due to transportation issues. Instead, I stayed home and sewed up a new totebag, serged up the two pink terrycloth pillowcases I'm making for me, and re-fitted Hubby's sleep mask. I'm thinking of applique for the pillowcases. Just folk hearts and stars and maybe fish in a funky print fabric. I love the embroidery designs that CSR has, but this time want a more folksy feel :-)

Knitting: Still making foot-way on Hubby's socks. Soon this sock will be a not-so-distant memory as I knit its twin. Next time, I'm going to take Jen's advice and knit both at the same time!!!

Taking the weekend off from all things computer. See you after the 4th!

Here's a photo of the Boring Beige Hubby Socks. I've got a few more inches to knit until I begin the toe decreases.

July Already?

How the Heck did it get to be July already? I must have fallen asleep at the wheel!

Last night was mapped out for together time with the Spousal Unit and also some sewing while he prepped his course for this semester (Summer B). Instead we rescued the SupportGoddess from the side of the road where her car left her stranded.

Hubby did surgery on it in the Lutheran Church parking lot. After a new battery, her car started up and we followed her home. Here's hoping it was just a battery and not the alternator too.

Cat news

I keep sending Hubby photos from Petfinder.com of potential new pets. It's fun to shop, but truly, we're not ready yet.

Knitting news:

Working away on the BBHubby socks. I've really got to get another photo up of them.

Happy JULY!!!!
